Final Fantasy VIII for the Nintendo Gamecube is with no doubt among the best video games ever made. Not only does this offer more than its predecessors, in addition, it has all the very same items that fans have come to expect from the Final Fantasy series. In Thamasa, the main character is named Golbez. Rather than being a king, he is a notorious warlord who has been banished from his own kingdom due to a crime he committed. His first experience is actually the excursion from Thamasa to Dalmasca, which he makes in search of a legendary weapon called the Gi. He's not able to find it in his journeys, but he discovers some sort of hint from an unknown party member and finally makes it to Dalmasca after beating his way throughout the city's dungeons. From that point, he sets out to search for a way to ruin the curse placed on the town. Unfortunately, his attempts prove unsuccessful and he is killed in battle by Squall.
Following his death, the people of Dalmasca are forced to vow to serve the curse so as to keep the Gi from slipping into the wrong hands and killing more people. As a result, the story takes off at a brand new direction and becomes much more interesting.
